Program
Citrus Valley Health Partners (CVHP) through its hospital campuses (Citrus
Valley Medical Center (CVMC) – Queen of the Valley Campus, CVMC
– Inter-Community Campus, and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital) in
West Covina, Covina, and Glendora, California offers two ASHP accreditation-candidate
postgraduate year one (PGY-1) resident positions. This postgraduate program
is designed to develop skilled clinicians that can deliver pharmaceutical
care in a variety of health care settings. In addition, our unique partnership
with the Keck Graduate Institute School of Pharmacy offers the full resources
of an institution that develops leaders among healthcare professionals
dedicated to the delivery of advanced personally-optimized patient care
and the translation of applied and clinical science breakthroughs to enhance
the quality of life.
Overview
The Pharmacy Practice Residency program at Citrus Valley Health Partners
begins in July. This 12-month residency focuses on pharmacotherapy, research
and teaching in a decentralized pharmacy setting. Citrus Valley Medical
Center pharmacy departments are open 24/7 and include a central pharmacy
along with inpatient satellite locations. Our pharmacists provide a broad
range of clinical services and work collaboratively with the health care
team. CVHP comprises three hospital campuses (623 licensed beds combined)
and an inpatient hospice (10 beds) and home health facility, and through
this affiliation, the resident will participate in the system-wide management
of clinical programs and operations. The CVHP Residency program emphasizes
practice. We make a strong distinction between clerkship training and
residency training. The residency builds on the clerkship experiences
gained in pharmacy school. Although our program is organized into discrete
blocks of training (rotations), each rotation is related to the broad
purpose of the program, and we assist the resident in integrating these
individual training experiences into the practice of pharmacy.
