Foothill Presbyterian Hospital now home to da Vinci robotic surgery
Glendora, Calif. – Citrus Valley Health Partners (CVHP) is proud to announce that
the first ever da Vinci robotic surgeries at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital
were performed this month.
Dr. Jonathan Warner performed two prostatectomies on December 8 using this
most advanced technology and the patients are reportedly doing very well.
Recent advances in robotic-assisted surgery have changed surgical practices
and extended another option of minimally invasive surgery to patients.
The da Vinci Xi Surgical System expands upon core features by enabling
efficient access throughout the abdomen or chest. The Xi has been optimized
for multi-quadrant surgeries in the areas of gynecology, urology and general surgery.
Key features include a new overhead instrument arm designed to facilitate
anatomical access from virtually any direction, a new endoscope digital
architecture that creates a simpler, more compact design with improved
vision definition and clarity; and smaller, thinner arms with newly designed
joints that offer greater range of motion than ever before.
During a da Vinci procedure, the surgeon is 100% in control of the da Vinci
System. Seated at the surgeon console in the same room with the patient,
the surgeon manipulates the EndoWrist instruments through small incisions
in the patient’s body. This enables the surgeon to operate with
enhanced vision, dexterity and precision.
“Having a da Vinci robot at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital really
enhances our ability to deliver high quality state of the art surgical
care for the people of the San Gabriel Valley right where they live,”
says Dr. Warner. “Nobody likes to be in the hospital, but adding
LA traffic and the stress of being far away from loved ones for surgery
makes it even worse. Now that there is a robot in Glendora, we are able
to provide high quality surgeries for patients without the added stress
of having to travel far away for care.”
