The Primary Stroke Center /Neuroscience Unit is located at Citrus Valley
Medical Center, Queen of the Valley Campus. The Queen of the Valley Stroke
Center has achieved the required stroke Core Measure outcomes and was
designated with the Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award and is
recognized as a recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke
Association’s Target : Stroke Honor Roll.
The goal of the Primary Stroke Center and the Neuroscience Unit is to deliver
specialized nursing care to a diverse population in the community and
surrounding cities. The Neuroscience Unit is supported by specially-trained
physicians, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and critical care nurses.
The Neuroscience Unit nurses are competent in taking care of patients suffering
from variety of neurological disorders such as, epilepsy, seizure disorder,
intracranial aneurysm, brain tumor, headache and movement disorders.
The Stroke Center and the Neuroscience Unit have a multi-disciplinary approach
in patient care that covers full continuum of care. The multi-disciplinary
team is comprised of physicians, nurses, care coordinators, discharge
planners, and physical, speech and occupational therapists. Early rehabilitation
along with smooth transition of continuum of care is offered to all stroke
patients. With the exceptional care of the team the patient is assessed
and transferred to the appropriate level of care such as, Acute Rehabilitation
Unit, Transitional Care Unit, Outpatient Rehab Services, Home Health Care
services, or home to the care of the family.

Unit is to provide the highest quality of care in a compassionate and
