Definitive Observation Unit

The Definitive Observation Unit is an integral part of CVHP. The DOU has a 44-bed capacity, delivering continuous 24-hour monitoring for a diverse patient population. The unit is designed to meet the needs of acutely ill inpatients who display signs and symptoms of a cardiac disease or conditions that threaten cardiac stability. Patients diagnosed with angina, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease may be admitted to DOU. In addition, DOU provides transitional care for those patients who no longer require critical care but who have not yet sufficiently recovered to allow routine care.
