Pregnancy and the birth of your baby can be exciting and challenging. We
are here to help you through your journey into parenthood.
Queen of the Valley Hospital is a proud participant of Welcome Baby a
First 5 LA program. Welcome Baby is a universal home visitation program, for pregnant
and postpartum women living in and outside Best Start communities and
giving birth at a participating hospital.
Queen of the Valley Hospital is the only hospital in the San Gabriel Valley
that offers the Welcome Baby program. It services the El Monte/ South
El Monte Best Start community and surrounding communities (please contact
our office for eligibility).
This program is offered at
no cost to women of all income levels who are planning to deliver at Queen of
the Valley Hospital.
How it Works:
Welcome Baby is a free, voluntary program offering support, education,
and linkage to community resources. You can enroll during your pregnancy
(up to 38 weeks) or in the hospital after delivery.
As part of Welcome Baby, you will receive:
- One-on-one visits in the home, at the hospital and by phone
- RN, Parent Coach and Hospital Liaison provide personalized support during
pregnancy through 9 months
Provide support and information on:
- Nutrition for mom and baby
- Labor and delivery
- Home safety before and after birth
- Breastfeeding support from a certified Lactation Educator
- Parenting and baby's development
- Referrals to community resources
Number of visits and support are determined by place of residence and level of need.
These programs work together to connect you with services that best suit
you and yout baby's needs.
