Mitchell Goldstein, MD, FAAP
Dr. Mitchell Goldstein is the Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. He is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Gilbert Martin, MD, FAAP
Dr. Gilbert Martin is the Medical Director Emeritus of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. He helped to open the NICU at Queen of the Valley over 29 years ago. He is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is the immediate past Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Perinatology, the national journal for the practice of Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine, a position he held for over 20 years. He is the immediate past president of the California Association of Neonatologists, and is on the Executive Committee of the Perinatal Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a reviewer for Pediatrics, the official journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as for Obstetrics & Gynecology, the official journal of the College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has published several papers in Neonatology and Perinatology. He holds Clinical Professorships in Pediatrics at both the USC School of Medicine and the UC Irvine Medical Center.
Bruce Sindel, MD, FAAP
Clinical Director of Neonatal ICU
Dr. Bruce Sindel is the Clinical Director of the Neonatal ICU in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. Prior to his neonatal fellowship at the Hershey Medical Center, he was Chief Resident in Pediatrics at the Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn N.Y. He has been practicing medicine in the San Gabriel Valley for over 16 years as a pediatrician and neonatologist in the Queen of the Valley Neonatal ICU. He is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a former Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the Queen of the Valley, and is also an Associate Clinical Professor in Pediatrics at the UC Irvine Medical Center. He is also co-director of the Neonatal Polysomnography Laboratory at Citrus Valley Medical Center and has been a member of the American Sleep Disorders Association for 15 years.
Linda Yang, MD, FAAP
Transport Director of Neonatal ICU
Dr. Linda Yang is the Transport Director of the Neonatal ICU in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. She is a cum laude graduate in Biochemistry at UCLA, and prior to her work at Queen of the Valley, she was an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology at the UC Irvine Medical Center. She is an instructor of Neonatal Resuscitation, and is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and has several published papers in Neonatology. She is also fluent in Mandarin.
Gilbert Furman, MD, FAAP
Dr. Gilbert Furman is one of the Neonatologists in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. He has been practicing medicine in the San Gabriel Valley for over 23 years, as a pediatrician and a neonatologist in the Queen of the Valley NICU. He is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is Chairman-elect of the Department of Pediatrics at the Citrus Valley Medical Center. He was president of the Perinatal Advisory Council Los Angeles Communities and vice-president of the California Perinatal Association. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Perinatology. He is the Chapter Representative, Section on Perinatal Pediatrics, District IX of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Diabetes Association. He also holds a Clinical Professorship in Pediatrics at the USC School of Medicine.
Perpetua Lawas-Alejo, MD, FAAP
Dr. Perpetua Lawas-Alejo is one of the Neonatologists in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. She completed her undergraduate work in the Philippines, and completed her medical training in the United States. She completed her Neonatology Fellowship at U.C. Irvine. She is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Clark Ochikubo, MD, FAAP
Dr. Clark Ochikubo is one of the Neonatologists in the Family Birth & Newborn Center. He graduated from Stanford University Phi Beta Kappa, with Honors and Distinction. He completed his Masters degree in Biology before obtaining his M.D. at Stanford as well. He did extensive research in Neonatology while an undergraduate and graduate student at Stanford, and has several publications in Neonatology. He is Board Certified in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
