Did you know that the East San Gabriel Valley has a very high population
with diabetes, hypertension and coronary artery disease? And did you also
know that there is a high risk of limb amputation associated with these
diseases? Based on that knowledge, Citrus Valley Heart Center has partnered
with Bard Peripheral Vascular’s LOVE YOUR LIMBS program to spread
awareness of Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) in order to help decrease
the number of limb amputations within the community.
PAD is a serious circulatory problem in which the blood vessels that carry
blood to your arms, legs, brain, or kidneys, become narrowed or clogged.
PAD affects over 18 million Americans, most over the age of 50.
You may be at increased risk for PAD, if you are or have any of the following:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Over 50 years of age
- Family history of PAD
