Type 1

Type 1 diabetes usually occurs in children and young adults, but has been seen in a few older adults.

In type 1 diabetes, the body makes little or no insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps your body use energy.

Diabetes does not have to slow you down—you can learn to remain healthy. It’s OK to be a little scared or nervous. Our staff will help you whether you are brand new to this whole diabetes thing or an old pro.

See FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for an explanation of what diabetes is.
