Breath Savers

Mission Statement

Breath Savers is committed to providing education, support and social activities for individuals who have lung disease.

The supervisor of Pulmonary Rehabilitation is the Breath Savers advisor. The club's organization also includes an Executive Board, committee members and many dedicated volunteers.

Out and About

Besides monthly meetings, the club plans several trips throughout the year to encourage our members to get out of the house and enjoy life. Some of these outings have included Laughlin, Nev., a harbor cruise in San Pedro, concerts, picnics, ice cream socials and bingo parties. At the end of each year we have a holiday gift exchange and musical entertainment program.

Stay in Touch

Breath Savers volunteers create a free monthly newsletter called Our Daily Breath. The publication contains informative articles on lung disease, diet, exercise, breathing medications, club activities and uplifting thoughts and humor.

Scholarship Benefit for Pulmonary Rehabilitation

A "Memorial Scholarship Fund" has been established through Breath Savers. The fund provides financial assistance toward the cost of enrollment in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. A doctor's referral is required to apply for the program and the applicant must meet certain financial criteria to receive the scholarship benefit.
