Mentoring and Development Program

Giving Nurses the Confidence to Find Their Own Way

The Citrus Valley Health Partners' new Mentoring and Professional Development (MAP) Program is the only RN residency program offered in the East San Gabriel Valley Region. It has been recognized with an award of excellence for outstanding achievement in mentoring by the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

The objectives of this program:

  • Develop critical thinking and effective decision-making skills related to clinical judgment and performance.
  • Develop nursing skills from novice to expert patient care provider.
  • Develop autonomy and assertiveness in the clinical setting.
  • Support the newly hired nurses in their assimilation and integration into the organization's culture.

“Our newly graduate nurses often tell me they can’t express how fortunate they feel to be part of the CVHP MAP Program. It is so important they receive information about nursing as both a science and an art. Even in their young careers they realize the program’s contributions to their transition phase from student to licensed nurse. They know it’s hard to find a program like this.” – Lourdes R. Casao, PhD, RN-BC, FNP, Corporate Director of Education at Citrus Valley Health Partners.
