Spiritual Care

Helping keep people well in spirit is a key part of the Citrus Valley Health Partners mission, and we offer a complete array of services to help accomplish that important goal.

In fact, the Citrus Valley Medical Center – Queen of the Valley Campus was founded in 1962 by the Immaculate Heart of Mary (an order of Catholic nuns) and it proudly observes those Catholic roots and traditions today. Mass is held daily and a priest is available on site.

Spiritual care is available to all patients and family members – regardless of their faith – as they delve into issues with moral, ethical, humanitarian and existential implications. The spiritual care team includes full-time chaplains employed by CVHP and volunteers who are trained to be understanding and sensitive to issues relating to spiritual health. Spiritual care is available to everyone regardless of religious affiliation or personal beliefs.

Spiritual care resources:

  • Patients, their family and friends, as well as staff of each CVHP facility, may receive spiritual care service.
  • Bibles and other devotional materials are available.
  • Anointings, emergency baptisms and weddings, as well as funerals may be performed upon request. (Specific details about weddings and funerals may be obtained by calling a chaplain.)
  • Scripture-type ministry is provided through a non-denominational volunteer program and offers a bedside devotional.
  • Prayer may be requested either by leaving a message for a chaplain at his designated telephone extension or by writing a prayer concern – available in the chapel of each CVHP facility.
  • Chapels are open for prayer 24 hours each day. Mass is available at the Queen of the Valley Campus daily at noon on Channel 3.
  • Special parking is available for visiting clergy and other spiritual care visitors at each facility.
