CVMC Offers New Technology that Combines High-Quality Diagnostic Images with Patient Comfort
New state-of-the-art technology now offered at the Citrus Valley Medical Center – Inter-Community Campus detects and assists in the diagnosis of heart disease and cancer more quickly and accurately than previously used methods, such as a CT scan alone.
The Inter-Community Campus is the first facility in the San Gabriel Valley to utilize the GE Infinia Hawkeye 4. The system uses single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) combined with computed tomography (CT) to deliver unprecedented image quality to help physicians quickly and accurately diagnose with confidence. In addition, the technology’s speed allows physicians to view the images as soon as the automated, one-keystroke exam is finished, thus greatly increasing patient throughput.
“The Infinia Hawkeye 4 has been instrumental in giving us information about both the nature and precise location of disease allowing us to formulate appropriate treatment plans for our patients,” said Dr. Ghada Assassa, Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine at the Inter-Community Campus. “The camera has helped eliminate guesswork and potentially unnecessary surgery while making the process much more efficient than before.”
The Infinia’s all-digital Elite detector technology provides physicians with the largest possible field of view and, thanks to its dual detector system, the versatility to allow for a variety of patient positioning options. Combined with the Xeleris workstation, the Infinia helps provide a complete pathology picture in the convenience of a single exam.
